Last Friday, February 21st, the Basque Energy Cluster organized the second edition of the Basque Hydrogen Research Day at the BEC. The event brought together more than 140 representatives of the RVCTI agents and the R&D units of the business sector in the field of hydrogen.
Jaione Ganzarain, Deputy Minister of Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation of the Basque Government, opened the event highlighting the potential of the Basque Country in the hydrogen sector. After the opening, Camel Makhloufi, CEO of XMEM, spoke about the situation of the hydrogen market and its capacity to face the challenges of the energy transition.
Elena Verdú, Director of Hydrogen and Synthetic Technologies, then presented the objectives and vision of Repsol Technology Lab for the transformation of the energy sector through innovation. The meeting continued with a presentation by Jeremy Torregrosa from Alba Emission Free Energy, a subsidiary of Petronor, who spoke about the synthetic fuels demonstration plant at the Port of Bilbao.
After the coffee break, the H2MAT+ consortium met with the various companies interested in the project in order to present their capabilities, challenges and results obtained to date. The workshop ended with a colloquium that allowed the transfer of knowledge and experiences between the universities, technology centers and Basque companies.
