H2MAT project celebrates its Closing Day

On Friday 19 January, the closing day of the H2MAT project “Hybrid multilayer metal structures to be used in contact with hydrogen” was held. The event was attended by 34 people from 22 different entities. This project of the Elkartek programme began its trajectory in 2022, and after almost two years of research they have been able to present the results obtained.

After the welcome by Marcos Suarez, from the Basque Energy Cluster, Iñaki Hurtado from Mondragon Unibertsitatea, as coordinator of the project, presented the current situation of materials in the world of hydrogen and gave a brief presentation of the project.

Several partners then presented the conclusions of the project:

1. High Entropy Alloys (HEAs): characteristics and possible use in contact with Hydrogen, presented by Fernando Santos from Azterlan.

2. HEA-steel hybridisation: compatibility and interfaces obtained by different technologies, presented by Nerea Burgos from Ceit.

3. Permeation, adsorption and absorption of hydrogen in steels: technologies, presented by Teresa Guraya from the UPV/EHU.

This was followed by a dialogue session in which the companies present expressed their interest and offered their views on what they found most attractive aspects of the project. The companies that took part in the event were: HINE, Iberdrola, Lortek, Lumiker, Mugape/Innomat, Nippon Gases, Saitec, Talleres Hadimek, Tamoin, TDF Pump Rental, Team Ingeniería and Ulma Forja.

The day ended with a networking coffee, where all attendees were able to share experiences, establish connections and strengthen their professional relationships.
