On Friday, January 23, H2MAT+ took part in the third edition of BASQUENERGY Cluster’s Basque Hydrogen Research Day at BEC. The event was attended by more than 130 professionals from the hydrogen sector, including researchers and R&D managers from leading Basque companies.
Jaione Ganzarain, Deputy Minister of Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation of the Basque Government, opened the event by highlighting the strategic importance of renewable hydrogen as an opportunity to strengthen the industrial competitiveness and technological leadership of the Basque Country.
Antonio Aguiló, project manager at Clean Hydrogen Partnership, then explained the main lines of research prioritized within the European framework and highlighted some of the most significant international projects in this field. Azahara Pastor and José Manuel de Pablo, from Enagás Renovable, also shared key learnings, main challenges, and prospects for the Green Hysland project in Mallorca. The first part of the event ended with a speech by Joseba García, director of the EIC Foundation, who presented the Technological Roadmap for Renewable Fuels in the Basque Country 2030, a unique strategy in Europe that will shape the efforts of the Basque ecosystem in the coming years.
After the coffee break, the H2MAT+ consortium invited numerous interested companies to its final workshop with the aim of presenting the results and technical and human capabilities obtained throughout the project. The challenges that remain to be resolved in the field of materials that come into contact with hydrogen and the partners’ proposal to continue moving forward were also explained.
