H2MAT awarded at the World Foundry Congress thanks to TECNALIA’s Patricia Caballero

Patricia Caballero was awarded the prize for the best technical article, in this case on the H2MAT project, at the 74th World Foundry Congress held in Busan (South Korea)

The 74th World Foundry Congress (WFC) took place from October 18-22, 2020 in Busan, South Korea, bringing together 1,300 delegates, researchers and technicians from all over the world based around the theme “Cast the Future”. The congress and an associated trade fair have been held every two years since 1927 with the aim of exchanging know-how worldwide and with the active cooperation of more than 32 countries from all over the world. There were more than 200 presentations at this year’s event, two of which were given by Tecnalia. Patricia Caballero took part as a guest speaker and as a member of the International Committee Board of the WFC and Iban Vicario as presenter of an oral presentation and chair of the Casting session.

The Vita Activa Industry award for the best technical article went to Dr. Patricia Caballero, as thanks for and recognition of her contribution to the development of casting with her research and case studies. This is only the second time in its 74 years that the award has gone to a woman. The winning article was entitled “The Bioecological recycling of foundry sand for use as ecological substrate”. Part of the presentation was linked to H2MAT.
