H2MAT is funded by the Basque Government’s Department for Economic Development, Sustainability and the Environment (ELKARTEK 2022 programme).

PROJECT

The H2MAT aims to design, manufacture and assess multilayer structures, High Entropy Alloys (HEA) – steel – interface, as an alternative to the restrictions posed by stainless steel which is currently used in hydrogen transport applications.

This project also intends to improve the scientific, technological and commercial position of the Basque science and technology network and Basque companies in the hydrogen sector in general, and in green hydrogen transport and distribution technology, in particular.

IMPACT ON STRATEGIC AREAS

The results are expected to have a double impact on Basque industry: allowing the diversification of the range of products on offer; and strengthening the region’s leading position on the international renewable energy production, distribution and use market.
